Position Overview

Oversee and manage strategy development and implementation of association’s DEI initiatives. Will work internally, with cross- functional staff and externally, with relevant committees and volunteers, to provide guidance, support, and resources to advance key priorities that establish the industry and association as welcoming communities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage implementation of multi-year strategic plan to integrate DEI internally and externally; contribute to the planning and execution of long-range goals
  • Ensure that short- and mid-range objectives are met, working with stakeholders across the organization to help integrate DEI principles in relevant programs, products, and services
  • Assess organizational practices; research best practices to establish sound and innovative processes, policies, and programs to include learning opportunities and forums relating to DEI principles, with the goal to increase involvement and engagement of under-represented populations and elevate awareness of DEI throughout the organization
  • Provide support for and serve as primary staff liaison to the following ELFA DEI-related committees and their subcommittees: Emerging Talent Advisory Council (ETAC), Equity Committee, and Women’s Council
  • Work cross-functionally with other staff and stakeholders, primarily Business and Professional Development and Communications and Marketing staff, to plan, deliver, promote, and evaluate the three annual DEI-related live events: Emergence, Equity Forum, and Women’s Leadership Forum
  • Incorporate relevant DEI subject matter content in other association-sponsored activities, including webinars, podcasts, electronic media, and annual convention programs.
  • Merge fledging Women’s Council mentorship initiative into one coordinated, association program
  • Oversee three D&I LinkedIn groups
  • Communicate results and outcomes of these various DEI groups and activities internally to staff, other committees and the Board, and externally, to the general ELFA membership
  • Foster and maintain relationships for collaboration on DEI initiatives across industry partner groups
  • Implement and monitor system to track metrics and measurements for success
  • Conduct other activities as developed and assigned by the Board

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; advanced degree is a plus; equivalent work experience can be substituted
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in the DEI field, and demonstrated knowledge of DEI and/or related subject matter
  • Three to five years’ experience managing projects or programs of similar nature
  • Experience designing and leading learning sessions and communication plans

  • High level of motivation and initiative
  • Ability to leverage insights through data analytics (assessment, analysis and reporting) of DEI metrics
  • Intermediate-level proficiency in working with Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn systems or computer applications, including membership database
