ELFA Asks Members to Share Section 1071 Training Resources

Posted 08/04/2023

ELFA is creating a resource center for Section 1071 compliance. Part of this resource center will include a section that lists companies that provide compliance training relating to Section 1071.

If your company provides compliance training relating to Section 1071, please let us know. If your company utilizes a compliance training company today that you’ve enjoyed working with and either provides, or is planning to provide, Section 1071 compliance training, please let us know.*

We do not intend for the final listing to be an endorsement of any specific training provider as the resource center will clearly denote.

If you would like to be listed or have questions about this effort, please e-mail Andy Fishburn at afishburn@elfaonline.org

Additionally, if there are other types of resources that you believe ELFA should include in this resource center, please let us know using the same process.

*For example, once the final 1071 rule becomes effective, loan officers will need to inquire of customers certain demographic information and particular information about the business that ELFA members may not be gathering today (e.g., annual revenues and census tract). Covered financial institutions cannot discourage applicants from responding to requests for applicant-provided data and must maintain procedures to collect applicant-provided data at a time and in a manner that are reasonably designed to obtain a response. Many companies will take the approach that consistent training across subsets of their employees will be the best way to ensure compliance with Section 1071.
