Last October at the ELFA Annual Convention
we celebrated the strength of our association community. Drawing on the theme “We Are ELFA,” many of you shared your stories about ELFA’s significance in your business and your life.
Now, less than six month later, an extraordinary health and economic crisis is gripping our nation. In these unprecedented times, it is heartening to see that the strength of our community is more evident than ever.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we postponed or cancelled all of our spring events. We deeply regret not being able to meet face-to-face with you at these events, but, as always, the safety of our participants, community and staff are our priority and we believe this decision was in the best interest of everyone involved.
In the absence of in-person gatherings this spring, members are coming together virtually. You are exchanging best practices in our online communities
. You are connecting on the ELFA Engage app
. You are participating in association committee meetings via zoom. And, you and your teams are staying sharp and preparing for the future through online courses
This month we launched a new webinar series
designed to help you navigate the current market and regulatory landscape and anticipate the changing environment in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope you’ll participate in these free events, which include live Q&A sessions so you can connect with experts and colleagues on the issues you are grappling with.
We Are ELFA
Social distancing isn’t stopping members from contributing to the association’s mission during the coronavirus pandemic: The ELFA Operations & Technology Committee is pictured here during a recent virtual meeting. A number of other committees have conducted business via video chat. If you’d like to get involved with an ELFA committee, download the ELFA Volunteer Guide

Addressing the present while anticipating the future is a key theme of this special, online-only edition of Equipment Leasing & Finance magazine
In “The Future of You,” members of the Emerging Talent Advisory Council join leadership experts in proposing five steps for emerging talent to consider when thinking about and investing in the future.
- “Inviting Technology to the C-Suite” discusses the importance of CEOs and technology officers working together to innovate now and into the future.
- In “Leadership in Times of Crisis,” David DePamphilis, Executive Vice President of NFS Leasing, shares his executive perspective on keeping a business going in tough times. “Our mettle as Americans and business leaders will be tested,” he writes. “But we are strong and we are determined get through this surreal adversity.”
- In his Federal Insight column, Andy Fishburn writes about “After the Crisis: How COVID-19 Is Changing Business and Public Policy.” Our federal and state government relations teams are taking an active role to ensure our industry’s voice is heard on Capitol Hill and in the states, and we thank all the members involved in this effort. See updates here.
ELFA is here for you, and we are committed to providing information and resources to help you and your customers during this challenging time. While we have instituted some operational changes—for example, ELFA Board Chair Martha Ahlers will preside over the May Board of Directors meeting online for the first time in our history and all ELFA staff are working remotely in order to practice social distancing—the entire team remains focused on serving you and delivering on our mission.
We hope you and your families are safe and healthy. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us
with your questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued active engagement in the association.
