ELFA Community Mourns the Loss of Attorney Malcolm C. Lindquist

Posted 08/14/2019

The law firm Lane Powell has announced that friend and colleague Malcolm Lindquist passed away on Sunday, August 4, after losing a courageous battle with cancer. A man of great integrity, wit and infectious humor, with practical advice and welcome mentorship, Malcolm was a wonderful colleague and attorney alike. Truly, we are all better for having known Malcolm.

ELFA President and CEO Ralph Petta remembered Lindquist’s many contributions to the association. “I personally had the pleasure to get to know Malcom over the years. He was a true gentleman and a valuable member of our Legal Committee. In addition, he helped plan and participated in many successful Legal Forums.”

Lindquist had more than 35 years of experience representing clients in banking, commercial finance, equipment leasing and Uniform Commercial Code matters.

His practice included the documentation of complex loan transactions, lease transactions and sales of portfolios of leases and loans. Lindquist also represented lenders in loan enforcement actions, bankruptcy proceedings, receiverships and out-of-court workouts. In 2004, he was inducted into the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers as its first Fellow from the state of Washington. He was also an elected member of the American Law Institute.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish (732 18th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112). A celebration of life will immediately follow at the ASUW Shell House (3655 Walla Walla Rd, Seattle, WA 98195).

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Malcolm’s name to: UW Rowing Program; ASUW Shell House Capital Campaign; Rebuilding Together South Sound; and/or Appendiceal Cancer Research at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
