FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (September 25, 2017) – Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in truck fleet business analytics, equipment financing and lifecycle cost management announced today its participation in the 32nd annual IFDA Truck Driving Championship last weekend. Fleet Advantage sponsored its second IFDA Essay Contest for the children of the participating drivers.

The IFDA Truck Driving Championship, organized by the International Foodservice Distributors Association, held at the Disney Beach and Yacht Club Resort in Orlando, is a three-day program that begins with a written exam followed by a pre-trip inspection and field obstacle course.

Fleet Advantage has been a sponsor of this fun-filled family event for three straight years, and helped organize the Kids Essay Contest. Children of truck drivers are proud to know their parents help keep America moving. The kids were given three essay questions to share why they are proud of their truck-driving parent, including what Disney character reminds them of their dad and why.

The grand prize winners were:

Sergio Gonzales, grandson of Ruben Gonzales, a driver for the last 26 years from Ben E. Keith Foods for age group 8-10; and sisters Kennedy Residori for the age group 11-13, and Alysandra Residori for the age group 14-17, daughters of Jeff Residori, a driver for the last 14 years from Gordon Food Service.  Alysandra is 14 and finished the sentence “My dad is a hero because… he will always help me. My dad is my ‘go-to’ person when it comes to homework. He helped me during track season and acted like my personal coach. He took time out of his day to make me practice and also worked on research to coach me in high jump.”

Grace Noyes from Oklahoma age 6, daughter of driver Gary Noyes from Shamrock Foods, won the Field Obstacle Cone Counting Contest with the winner closest to the correct total number of cones on the entire obstacle course.

The IFDA rodeo wrapped-up the week of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Sept. 10-16, a week-long recognition of drivers for their hard work and dedication.
