Two Crestmark employees have been honored for their commitment to helping victims of domestic violence. Teri Haynes, first vice president, operations manager, data services; and Brandi Davie, team leader in data services, received the 2016 Oakland County Domestic Violence Prevention Award from the Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence (OCCCADV). The awards were presented at a ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016.
Haynes and Davie were recognized for coordinating and leading Crestmark’s financial literacy program that was developed for clients of HAVEN, a non-profit organization that provides victims of domestic violence with shelter; and offers comprehensive programs to help them rebuild their lives, and become financially independent.
Crestmark began offering a financial literacy program for HAVEN’s clients in 2014. It includes lessons, tools, and support on budgeting and money management. The class is taught one evening a month by Crestmark employees. In addition to the class, Crestmark provides grants to Haven’s clients who are in need of financial assistance with expenses, including rental deposits, rent payments, or child care, among others.
Haynes said, “It is a passion of mine to work with HAVEN. Many women in abusive homes have no one to turn to and nowhere to go. HAVEN provides shelter and offers guidance. It is a good feeling to play a small part in helping women get out of violent home situations. I am very thankful that Crestmark cares enough to help make that happen!”
Davie said, “Crestmark is honored to be working with HAVEN, and we appreciate the work HAVEN is doing in our community to help victims of abuse.”

The Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence (OCCCADV) was formed in 1994 in order to develop and sustain a coordinated, broad-based community response to domestic violence. Members include judges, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, legislators and other government officials, social service providers, educators, health care providers, clergy members, business people and other concerned members of the community. The OCCCADV sponsors projects concentrated in education, systems coordination, public awareness and collaboration.
