Evansville, IN – Martha Ahlers, United Leasing, Inc. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, recently celebrated the completion of the fourth annual United Leasing Championship held in Evansville, Indiana. As title sponsor of the Web.com PGA tour event, United Leasing, Inc. welcomed guests to southwestern Indiana the week of April 16th at Victoria National Golf Club, Indiana’s top-ranked and one of the country’s top-50 golf courses.
“The United Leasing Championship has become a major community event and I am proud our company is associated with the professional sport of golf featuring world-class athletes. This week long event not only celebrates the rising stars of the PGA but also showcase our beautiful southern Indiana region to the world,” stated Ahlers.
The United Leasing Championship presented by Professional Transportation, Inc. featured a field of 156 golfers competing over 72 holes of stroke play for a purse of $600,000 and a chance for a PGA Tour card for 2016. Victoria National is a 7,239-yard par-72 layout designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio, which opened in 1998. Leading up to tournament play, United Leasing guests and other tournament sponsors were treated to two Pro-Am events played at Victoria National.
Spectators were treated to a highly competitive level of golf as four rounds of the United Leasing Championship aired on The Golf Channel in the U.S. The tournament was distributed in 176 countries and territories, including Japan, Korea and parts of Latin America and Europe. In the end, Alabama newcomer Smylie Kaufman came in 1-over-par 73 and lead with a five-shot shot to win the 2015 United Leasing Championship. The 23 year old Kaufman finished with a 10-under 278 total, ahead of Jonathan Randolph (69), Adam Long (73) and Ryan Spears (74.)
According to Ron Romain, Chief Executive Officer of United Leasing, Inc., “The success of the United Leasing Championship is directly tied to our strong base of community leaders and dedicated volunteers. With over 400 volunteers unselfishly dedicating their time and talents, this year’s event was a huge success for our community. We are also proud to partner with over 90 local charities, including Youth First, who directly benefitted from the United Leasing Championship through the “Golf Gives Back” ticket sales promotion.”
The United Leasing Championship’s “Golf Gives Back” program offers local non-profit charities the opportunity to sell and receive 100% of all tournament ticket sales.
Youth First is one of the primary beneficiaries of the tournament proceeds. An Evansville organization, its mission is to strengthen youth and families through evidenced-based programs that prevent substance abuse, promote healthy behaviors, and maximize student success.
The United Leasing Championship presented by Professional Transportation, Inc. is organized and managed by the Evansville Sports Corporation. Upon the completion of a three year agreement in 2014, United Leasing, Inc. entered into a two-year agreement with the Evansville Sports Corporation and the PGA for the 2015 and 2016 United Leasing Championship.
