A YEAR AGO, the ELFA Board approved a new long-range strategic plan for our association. The plan is designed to look well down the road to offer you, our members, not only what you need today and tomorrow, but five to seven years from now. As we announced last year, our staff, the Board and the entire volunteer leadership are poised to make changes and investments going forward to execute on the Strategic Plan—which is based on extensive member research—in order to help member companies succeed.
I’m pleased to share an update on our progress, in particular in the area of training and education.
Among the top goals in the Strategic Plan is to expand member access to training and development to meet the comprehensive learning and career needs of members at every career stage—especially early-stage talent.
To advance this goal, we recently completed an audit of the association’s education and training offerings. We hired a respected consulting firm to conduct an in-depth survey of the membership, as well as a series of phone interviews with a diverse group of members, from the C-suite to early-career professionals, and develop recommendations based on the findings. Our goal: to ensure that the association’s programming aligns with your needs.
We thank everyone who participated in this process. As the Board reviews the results and recommendations, we will be focused on improving our educational offerings and delivering new learnings to a new generation of employees. We’ll also be exploring how we can leverage technology to increase our online training, as well as streamline internal processes so that we can be more efficient and effective.
Stay tuned for details about what the audit revealed, and how the ELFA Board, staff and volunteers plan to implement the findings to serve you.
At ELFA headquarters, we’re also busy preparing for our largest event of the year, the 62nd ELFA Annual Convention on Oct. 22-24 in Phoenix, Arizona. With the convention only a few weeks away, many of you are already reviewing the attendee list, planning your networking and business meetings and consulting the agenda to decide which sessions to attend. See an overview of all the Convention activities in our special insert. Also, preview one of the much-anticipated Convention breakout sessions in our cover story on fraud—one of many hot topics we’ll be discussing on-site.
Thank you as always for your continued support and participation.
