What Sets ELFA Apart

As this magazine went to press, we received good news: A federal court issued a nationwide injunction delaying implementation of Section 1071 in direct response to the efforts of ELFA and the other parties that intervened in the case in recent months. This is a big win for ELFA members and our $1 trillion industry as a whole.

ELFA has been proactively engaged in both the legislative and regulatory arenas working to make sure Section 1071 doesn’t make it more burdensome for our members and your customers to do business together. This new development underscores the value of our ongoing efforts and illustrates our association’s important role defending your interests.

As our feature story “The Power of ELFA Advocacy” points out, there are a lot of lobbyists out there, but ELFA is the only association advocating for the specific needs of our industry—both in Washington and in state capitals across the country.

Advocacy is just one of the benefits of membership in ELFA. Meet some of our newest members and learn what inspired them to join the association in the story “New Faces, New Voices.” Plus, see which long-time member companies are celebrating milestone anniversaries this year.

It was terrific to see both new and long-time members at our 62nd Annual Convention in Phoenix last month. Read about some of the highlights in the story “A 360-Degree View of the Future.” Special congratulations to Bill Bosco, who was inducted into the Equipment Finance Hall of Fame.

Farewell

I will retire at the end of December after 36 years with the association. As I mentioned at the Convention, I get asked all the time why I stuck around at the same place for so long, which is unheard of in today’s work environment. The answer is the people. That’s what makes this a special place.

Working at ELFA has been an unbelievably rewarding experience, and I will never forget the tremendous people I have met and worked with along the way. I have made lasting friendships and learned so much from so many of you: My incredible colleagues on the ELFA staff, our terrific members, the thousands of active committee volunteers I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years, and the Board Chairs with whom as President and CEO over the past eight years I have worked so closely.

With the new crop of Officers and Directors joining the Board and our new President and CEO Leigh Lytle, this organization is in good hands—now and into the future.

Thank you for your support and participation.
