"Except as otherwise provided by law, a judgment by confession may be entered without action, either for money due or to become due or to secure any person against contingent liability on behalf of the defendant, or both. NRS 17.090 

A defendant must make and sign a written statement under oath that authorizes entry of the judgment for a specified sum; if for money, states the facts out of which the amount arose and explains that the amount is justly due; and if for security against a contingent liability, states the facts surrounding the liability and shows that the confessed sum does not exceed the liability. NRS 17.100

A judgement must be filed in accordance with NRS 17.110.

Judgments are valid for 6 years from the date of entry, unless they are renewed. NRS 11.190; NRS 70.010.

Judgments can be renewed according to the requirements of NRS 17.214."
