Join ELFA's Kyle Alexandre, VP of State Government Relations and presenters Andrew Alper, Frandzel Robins Bloom & Csato, L.C., and Adeline Tungate, Buchalter, for a discussion on the SB 1286 Rosenthal Amendments.

The Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a California equivalent to the FDCPA and prohibits creditors from engaging in unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the collection of consumer debts. Senate Bill 1286 (SB 1286) expands the Rosenthal Act to include not only consumer debts, but certain "Covered Commercial Credit Transactions" as well. These amendments go into effect on July 1, 2025.

Our panel of experts will discuss these amendments, how the Rosenthal Act differs from FDCPA, what debt is now covered under Rosenthal, prohibited conduct, disclosures, and much more.
