The Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) is the world’s oldest sea turtle research and conservation group. An international nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, STC was founded in 1959 by world-renowned sea turtle expert Dr. Archie Carr to save sea turtles from extinction through science-based conservation. Headquartered in Florida, the organization carries out worldwide programs to conserve and recover sea turtle populations through research, education, advocacy and protection of the natural habitats upon which sea turtles depend upon. Over the course of 60 years, STC’s research programs have yielded much of what is now known about sea turtles and the threats they face, and the organization is applying this knowledge to carry out the world’s most successful sea turtle protection and recovery programs. Founded in 1972, Youth Haven was established to fulfill an immediate need for emergency shelter for children who had been removed suddenly from a traumatic home situation. Now in continuous operation for over 50 years, Youth Haven meets the growing needs of our community to provide services and programing for Southwest Florida’s abused, neglected, and homeless children and teens. Our 18.5-acre therapeutic campus houses up to 70 youth with a waking staff system that allows for around-the-clock specialized care. Youth Haven views challenges as opportunities in helping each child gain confidence, independence and success as they continue to strengthen the community they serve; laying the foundation for children and teens to have hope for a brighter, better future.
