QuickBridge, in Collaboration with OC United, Sponsors Second Three-Day Internship Program for CSU Fullerton Guardian Scholars

Posted 02/01/2018

IRVINE, Calif. (February 1, 2018) --- QuickBridge, a privately-held, leading financial services firm offering working capital to small businesses, recently partnered with non-profit organization OC United and the California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) to sponsor its second three-day internship program for CSUF Guardian Scholars. Three chosen CSUF students experienced 24 hours of onsite job preparation at QuickBridge’s office headquarters and were awarded a $1,000 scholarship and an ongoing mentorship opportunity with a QuickBridge team member upon the program’s completion.

The Guardian Scholar interns gained real-world experience through:

·        Job-shadowing credit, sales, and accounting mentors

·         Learning what experience and education is needed for jobs in human resources, marketing, accounting, IT, sales, and operations

·         Taking skills tests, attending hands-on resume workshops, and engaging in mock job interview sessions

·         Enjoying offsite networking opportunities with QuickBridge team members and managers

Selection criteria for the three intern positions included being a Guardian Scholar in good standing and submitting an essay on why they wanted to participate in an internship with the financial services firm.

The QuickBridge three-day internship program was developed as part of the company’s ongoing relationship with OC United—a nonprofit organization that pairs local businesses, non-profits, and everyday citizens with neighbors in need. OC United is a supporter of the CSUF Guardian Scholars program, which was created to aid college students who have recently exited the foster care system. The program contributes to the overall value of the student’s university experience.

“QuickBridge’s internship program provides invaluable real-world experience, and we are thrilled to witness the impact it has on our former foster youth,” said Amy Gaw, director of the Foster Care Initiative at OC United. “The QuickBridge internship and mentorship program helps these students hone their educational, business, and interpersonal skills—preparing them to become self-supporting community leaders and competent professionals in their chosen fields. We are thankful to QuickBridge for their continued assistance.”

“Partnering with QuickBridge has been vital to the success of our Guardian Scholars program,” said Deanna Merino-Contino, director of the Center of Scholars at CSUF. “We’re so pleased to have their support in our efforts to guide our scholars to a future built on success.”

QuickBridge President Ben Gold said the company’s first successful internship program in August 2017 set the stage for QuickBridge’s corporate commitment to the OC United / CSUF Guardian Scholars program.

“While the interns learn and benefit from us, we are learning and gaining from them as well,” said Gold. “We find their questions often help our team identify areas we can improve upon, and they offer a fresh perspective on things that may have become automatic for us. The mentoring program has afforded our team members the opportunity to act in a leadership role—improving their own personal skill development. We are inspired by the students’ engagement and professionalism and are looking forward to developing ongoing relationships with the students who participate in the program.”
