Looking Back on 50 Years:

"Advocacy is a pillar of the association—it's one of the association's reasons for being. We all think very highly of the industry and we are proud to be part of it, but at the end of the day, in terms of the number of companies in the industry, by sheer size it does not have a lot of leverage or power. I have always been amazed by the job the association is able to do despite not having great leverage. We've been able to make a real impact on government relations matters, not because we represent unions with millions of members, but because we represent sound ideas."

- John C. Deane
Chief Executive Officer, The Alta Group; ELFA Chairman 1991-93

The Alamo
Cruisin' and Explorin' San Antonio

Experience the best that San Antonio has to offer! The tour will begin with the famous Alamo, established in 1718. Guests will see remains of the original structures, including the chapel, which is now a shrine to the fallen Alamo heroes. Within the beautifully landscaped grounds is the Long Barracks Museum, once the mission's "convento," which chronicles the colorful history of the Cradle of Texas Liberty and San Antonio.

Guests will then experience the river on a chartered River Cruiser. The barge captain will provide historical and entertaining commentary as you pass through the pages of San Antonio history.

You will disembark for lunch at a private dining club, Club Giraud.

The tour will end with a stop at the border-style Mexican Market, or "El Mercado." Serving as a hub of commerce years ago, it has retained much of its charm of the past, with quaint shops offering local crafts, art, clothing and food.
