Looking Back on 50 Years:

"I am loath to admit that I remember when the Investment Tax Credit of 1962 was instituted and the nascent leasing industry exploded. At that time … the leasing industry was a small-ticket/deal-bydeal/ fairly local business. By the time I joined US Leasing in 1968, the industry was booming, leveraged leases had become the 'hot product' and San Francisco had become the center of the leasing universe. Regulators (both government and accounting) shaped the modern-day leasing product and will always have potentially dramatic impact … Strong advocacy by ELFA is an absolute imperative."

Habitat for Humanity San Antonio

Sunday, October 23

9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio (HFHSA) helps build simple, decent and affordable houses without interest or profit. They work with very lowincome families whose total income is generally 25% - 60% of the area median income. Families spend a minimum of 300 hours investing in "sweat equity" where they support and help build their own house and that of their neighbors. In the 34-year history of HFHSA, homeowners have had less than a 2% foreclosure rate.

HFHSA funding comes through partnerships with individuals, corporations, foundations, religious organizations and civic groups. It costs approximately $63,000 to build a Habitat house, including materials, tools and supplies. HFHSA relies mostly on private sources of funding to build affordable houses. One hundred percent of every donated dollar goes directly into their building program.

Attendees will work on some aspect of home improvement or construction including: painting, caulking, landscaping, minor repairs and exterior cleanup. All work will be supervised by experienced volunteers.

This project can only accommodate 50 people, so if you would like to participate, please reserve your spot when registering for the convention.

Soldiers' Angels

Sunday, October 23

2:30 - 4:30 pm

Soldier's Angels

"May No Soldier Go Unloved"

Soldiers' Angels is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard and their families. Founded in 2003 by the mother of two American soldiers, its hundreds of thousands of Angel volunteers assist veterans, wounded and deployed personnel and their families in a variety of unique and effective ways. Soldiers' Angels honors and upholds the families whose loved ones have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and safety.

Soldiers' Angels volunteers send hundreds of thousands of care packages and letters to "adopted" deployed service members. They supply the wounded with their "First Response Backpacks" at the Combat Support Hospitals in Iraq and Afghanistan and at the major military hospital in Germany, as well as provide care and comfort to those in stateside military and VA facilities. Soldiers' Angels has partnered with the Department of Defense to provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptops to over 6,000 severely-wounded service members, as well as other technology that supports rehabilitation.

Special thanks from the Fighting 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit

Attendees will assemble care packages for the soldiers and include hand-written notes with each package. A representative from Soldiers' Angels will speak to attendees about the program and all that they do.
