Business Technology Performance Index (BTPI)
The results of the fifth annual study of current technology trends in the equipment finance marketplace were recently released at a breakout session at the ELFA annual convention in Orlando.
The Business Technology Performance Index (BTPI), conducted for the ELFA by Capgemini's Asset Finance practice, addresses the state of the industry from a technology perspective and serves as the industry benchmark for IT and operations direction and spending. Thirty equipment finance companies—representing banks, captives and independents—participated in the project.
Among the results revealed at the session were the following:
- While average operating budgets declined 3.8 percent from 2006 to 2007, IT budgets increased an average of 4.5% over the same period
- IT headcount as a percent of all FTEs increased from 2.8% in the prior fiscal year to 3.2% in the current fiscal year

Industry Future Council Reports
The Industry Future Council (IFC) is a volunteer body of leasing executives who gather annually under the auspices of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Foundation for the purpose of analyzing the critical internal and external factors that impact the leasing and finance business. The IFC issues a report at the conclusion of its deliberations.
