2013 Captive and Vendor Finance Best Practices Roundtable

4/9/2013
Fairmont Hotel Chicago
Chicago, IL

This event sponsored by:

To provide financing options for customers, manufacturers typically rely on either a Captive (a wholly-owned provider of finance primarily for parent-company products) or a Vendor Finance Company (a third-party provider of financing capability to multiple clients).

Based on expressions of interest from Captives to better understand the value proposition, business practices, and market view of Vendor Finance organizations, AND expressions of interest from Vendor Finance entities to better understand the goals, objectives and operational challenges of Captives, we have decided to COMBINE the roundtable discussions for these groups in Chicago on April 9th, immediately preceding the ELFA Funding Conference.

This promises to be a very interesting discussion of best practices for each group, PLUS an opportunity to explore and understand the best practices of those who provide financing alternatives in overlapping markets. Consistent with the principles of the ELFA, the discussion will NOT include inappropriate topics such as pricing and market share. It will, however, provide the kind of unique interaction that only the Association can provide for its members.

Discussion topics include:

  • Lease accounting update (what do we know, what do we not know, when will we know more?)
  • The roles of Captives and Vendor Finance companies in the market
  • Alignment (and potential conflict) of interests, priorities, goals
  • Measurements: How are captive finance companies “measured”, and does this differ from banks, independents and Vendors Finance companies
  • Role of financing in attracting new customers, improving market share, overall customer satisfaction
  • Trends in bundling - the impact on financial offerings - advantages and disadvantages
  • Globalization of business and the impact on finance companies
  • Capital allocation and funding strategies
  • Cash as a competitor; customers' alternatives for equipment

NOTE - Service providers may not attend this roundtable.
